Calgary 4, San Jose 3

Iginla, who has 32 career goals against San Jose, scored late in overtime last month to seal Calgary's 3-2 win despite the Sharks' 36-20 shot advantage.

Daymond Langkow and Mark Smith also scored for the Flames, who were outshot 43-18 this time. Goalie Miikka Kiprusoff made 40 saves to steal what would have been former teammate Evgeni Nabokov's NHL-best 32nd victory.

"They always make me work hard, but that's fine," said Kiprusoff, who rose through the Sharks' system for four years before getting traded to Calgary in 2003. "Getting two points out of this building is huge. They were shooting a lot, but it's all good."

The Sharks' biggest folly was a delay-of-game penalty by Jonathan Cheechoo, setting up a 6-on-4 advantage when the Flames pulled Kiprusoff late in regulation.

Last shot for Elgin

Granger, Stewart and Armani Williams all said they still count that victory as the favorite moment of their careers.

As juniors, the foursome helped the Maroons go 17-12 and end the program's streak of five straight losing seasons. But Armani Williams' left knee injury late in the season threw a wrench in Elgin's postseason plans as its campaign came to an end with a heartbreaking overtime loss to St. Charles East in a regional title game.

The Maroons were dealt their toughest challenge when former coach Rob Brault was fired six days before the start of this season following his arrest for driving under the influence near Maroon Drive in the middle of an afternoon last November.

Despite the distraction, Elgin started the campaign 5-1 under Sitter and appeared poised to make a run at the program's first 20-win season in seven years.

Brazilian GP - Friday - Practice Session 1 Report

The first practice session of the Brazilian Grand Prix resulted in a 1-2 for Ferrari with World Championship challenger Kimi Raikkonen four-tenths of a second clear of local hero and last year's winner Felipe Massa. There was then a massive eight-tenths gap back to the third fastest runner Heikki Kovalainen. Does it mean that this will be a dominant weekend for Ferrari? Who can say? The McLarens played their cards very close to their chests with Fernando Alonso one of several drivers who did not do more than an installation lap as the damp conditions presented more risks than benefits. Lewis Hamilton did just 10 laps because he needed to learn the race track and he ended up fifth fastest, which was a good indication that the cars will be competitive when the team decides to show its hands.

With BMW Sauber not bothering to set times this cleared the way for some odd names in the top 10 and so we had Nico Rosberg's Williams in fourth and Ralf Schumacher's Toyota sixth ahead of Sebastian Vettel's Toro Rosso, Mark Webber's Red Bull, Jarno Trulli's Toyota and Tonio Liuzzi's Toro Rosso.

Car prowler got what he deserved

I have no sympathy for Mr. Jesse Quincy, who was shot by a Mill Creek officer. Mr. Quincy was a career criminal. He had served a light sentence for theft, was due to be sentenced for crimes including possession of stolen vehicles, possession of meth and possession of a firearm. He also admitted to possession of a stolen $30,000 Corvette. He arrived at the scene of his death in a stolen truck.

Given all of this, he still would have gotten five years, a slap on the wrist and would have served a fraction of that, soon out to resume his criminal career. According to a TV interview with his girlfriend, he was also busy siring illegitimate children for society to raise and deal with. If Mr. Quincy had been home asleep that morning he would be alive today. I believe that the facts will show that the officer's action was justified.

A Different Perspective

Yogi Bear stood at the entrance to Jellystone National Park. He scouted unattended picnic baskets while awaiting Boo Boo Bears arrival home on the school bus. Yogi and Boo Boo were co-owners of a playoff fantasy team. As Yogi considered himself smarter than the average bear, he figured his team had a decided advantage, but he needed Boo Boos help in researching and deciphering the most recent data before submitting teams for the next round of games. So he waited anxiously and kept a look out for Ranger Smith. The school bus screeched to a halt at the entrance and Boo Boo climbed down the steps, dragging his back pack behind him. The bus roared off in a cloud of dust and rubble. Hey, Boo Boo! Were still in first place in our fantasy league. Lets go look at the stats and make our picks. I dont want to play anymore, Yogi.

TA soldiers return to heroes welcome

Croydon TA soldiers returned from helping fight the Taliban in Afghanistan to the open arms of their children, wives, husbands and loved ones.

The 151 transport regiment, based at Croydon Regimental HQ, were tasked with the upkeep of motorpool vehicles in Kabul and Kandahaar.

Nicknamed "Kabul Cabs" they had to give vehicles a "mini-MOT" every 28 days to ensure operational capability was 100 per cent.

The company was attached to a Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers vehicle maintenance workshop, whose mission was to maintain more than 150 vehicles belonging to a variety of different nations.

Warrant Officer Class 1 Drew Johnston was deployed with more than 50 of his fellow soldiers in August last year. He survived fierce onslaughts from Islamic jihadis, harsh desert temperatures and the freezing mountains above the country's capital, Kabul.

West Virginia Radio Station Offers Free Valentine's Day Divorce for ...

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Charleston radio station is observing Valentine's Day with a reminder that Cupid sometimes misses his mark.

WKLC-FM, better known as Rock 105, is giving away a free divorce.

Valentine's Day isn't all hearts and flowers, says WKLC Program Director Jay Nunley. There is a darker side, he said, "where maybe you despise your spouse and resent the entire day."

Through 4 p.m. on Thursday, Valentine's Day, applications for the free divorce will be accepted on the classic rock station's Web site, www.wklc.com. The winning name will be drawn at 5 p.m.

Nunley cautions that this is a real divorce and people shouldn't enter if they aren't serious. Also, people expecting a long, drawn-out legal battle should hire a lawyer because the Rock 105 contest is for a relatively uncomplicated divorce.

WGC Match Play: Day 1 recaps

Tiger Woods (1) def. J.B. Holmes (16), 1 up.
Words can't do this one justice. Woods was 3 down with five to play, then birdied Nos. 14-16 to draw all square and went ahead with a 40-foot eagle putt on the 17th. Holmes missed an 8-foot birdie putt on No. 18 that would've sent the match to extra holes.

Arron Oberholser (9) def. Mike Weir (8), 3 and 1.
Only five of the 17 holes were halved, but Oberholser made birdies on Nos. 15 and 17 to close out the Canadian.

David Toms (13) def. Zach Johnson (4), 2 and 1.
Toms and Johnson halved nine of the final 11 holes, with Toms' victories on Nos. 7 and 14 the only exceptions.

Aaron Baddeley (5) def. Mark Calcavecchia (12), 4 and 2.
Badds was 4 under on Nos. 7-11 to take control, then won Nos.
