| Magpies rubbish Beckham talk
Newcastle have dismissed reports linking David Beckham with a move to St James' Park. Kevin Keegan replaced Sam Allardyce as Magpies manager last week and is now looking to strengthen his squad before the close of the transfer window. A number of high-profile names have already been linked with moves to Newcastle and speculation has suggested that Beckham was one of those firmly in Keegan's sights. The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder has been training with Arsenal in recent weeks during the Major League Soccer off-season. He played under Keegan for England and it was reported that Newcastle were lining up a short-term deal for him. However, Newcastle chairman Chris Mort has rubbished the story.
Jimmy happy to pass 'tough test'
It was a very, very tough test for us but we didn't help ourselves. "We were slack with our passing, we weren't making angles and for some strange reason we looked sluggish. But that's all credit to Hamilton, they closed us down quickly. "At half-time we were lucky to be still 0-0. If we had gone behind, it was very difficult, but it would have been even more difficult." Reid felt the defeat had been "cruel" but admitted they had enough chances to win the game. He said: "We made numerous chances, but if you don't take your chances you are punished and we were punished by Aberdeen. "We had a one-on-one chance at the end with James Grady running through, normally James would have put that away. "I'm majorly disappointed, I thought we could have won the game, never mind getting a draw.
Clippers have no answer against the Celtics
It began with losses at Denver, Golden State and Phoenix but Boston now has beaten Portland and the Clippers in back-to-back games. "They're good, no doubt about it," Thomas said. "They have all the pieces to go deep in the playoffs. If they can come out of the east, they have a good chance to win it all." CASSELL UPDATE Following Monday's morning shootaround, Cassell said that his agent, David Falk, has had discussions with the Clippers regarding a buyout of Cassell's contract. It could come today, according to three Clippers officials. It's a foregone conclusion Cassell would like the Clippers to buy him out and waive him so he can join the Celtics, whose championship aspirations greatly would be enhanced with the addition of the 15-year veteran.
Intel's next Classmate PC based on Silverthorne
Intel is working on an updated version of its Classmate PC designed for schoolchildren in developing countries, part of a wider effort to spur demand for low-cost laptops. Based on the company's upcoming Silverthorne processor, the new Classmate PC will likely be sleeker and have longer battery life than the current version, according to Navin Shenoy, general manager of Intel's Asia-Pacific operations. "It's fair to say that there is a Silverthorne-based Classmate design in the works that would likely come out coincidentally with the microprocessor," Shenoy said, adding that Intel has not determined pricing for the new laptop design. Silverthorne, which is billed as being easy on both power and the pocketbook, is part of Intel's Menlow platform that also includes the upcoming Poulsbo chipset.

PG North/East: North Allegheny set for tough Norwin Knights
Washowich and his Knights (19-6) will see the Tigers tight defense firsthand at 8 p.m. tomorrow at Plum when they square off against North Allegheny (23-2) in a WPIAL Class AAAA quarterfinal. It will be the second time the two teams have clashed this season, joining a Jan. 2 matchup when North Allegheny pulled out a 70-63 overtime victory. Since then, both have won 11 of 12 games down the stretch. But, there's no question that the Norwin contingent still remembers that loss just after the New Year. "When we played [North Allegheny] the first time, we were up nine points with three minutes to go," Washowich said. "They never led in regulation. "Now, they did the things it took to win that game and they came away with a victory and I don't want to take anything away from them.
