| Max Mosley tips Lewis Hamilton for future glory
Max Mosley, the FIA president, believes Lewis Hamilton can become the most successful Formula One driver of all time. Mosley was not too disheartened to see Hamilton miss out on the world championship by a single point last year, arguing that Kimi Raikkonen deserved his opportunity to win the title. The Finn clinched the crown in a thrilling climax to the season in the Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos where Hamilton was cruelly denied after suffering a gearbox problem. Mosley, though, maintains the 23-year-old McLaren driver will have many more chances to win the championship, potentially eclipsing the seven won by Michael Schumacher. "If you are thinking about the drivers dispassionately, it was Raikkonen's turn more than Lewis'," Mosley said. "But Lewis will get plenty of turns.
Golf Course Review - Bedford Springs Resort (Old Course)
Short-side yourself and you'll make bogey, but if your approach is below the hole, then birdie is a distinct possibility. Talk about a finishing with a view. The closing hole at Bedford Springs offers the golfer with a sensational glimpse of the Resort hotel and majestic Allegheny mountains. The 18th has been completely restored and is a wonderful end to a great round. The S-shaped fairway is woven in and around six fairway bunkers, including the 9-shaped trap on the left. At just 356 yards, keep the driver in the bag and go with a long iron or fairway metal. This will set up a 100-yard wedge to an elevated, V-shaped green. A deep trap right and one deep will keep the player cautious, but despite the left-to-right pitch of the green, this is one hole that should be attacked. FINAL WORD: The Old Course at Bedford Springs is a golfer's delight, a classic in time.
UTEP Miners' eyes on the prize
The thing we're doing is the same routine," coach Keitha Adams said, presumably for the 25th time this year. "We've watched film on Florida, we went through their personnel, their players. "We're just trying to take care of what we're trying to do. We're always trying to be focused on who we're playing. There's no question (the Southern Miss win) was very emotional, but we've turned the page." Of course, as always, there are marks at stake for 22-2 UTEP. Though the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament is secured, the Miners would clinch the regular-season title outright with a victory. A 14th conference victory would tie the C-USA record with two games still to play and keep alive UTEP's quest for the first unbeaten season in C-USA history. UTEP could become the first league team to finish with a perfect conference road record.
GMC goes green with Denali XT concept
For years, GMC has been the tailored truck brand with an advanced, professional pedigree. General Motors Corp. likened it to the Viking stove of the construction and landscape trades. But in showcasing a new sport pickup concept with a hybrid powertrain, General Motors Corp.'s venerable truck brand is once again shifting with the times. It started with the 2007 Acadia, a full-size crossover that is more car and wagon, and far more fuel efficient, than a hulking truck or SUV. Now comes the low-slung Denali XT hybrid, a muscular, car-based concept with attitude and green credentials that will be introduced at the Chicago Auto Show on Wednesday. .
No. 1 Memphis Handles UCF, 85-64, To Extend Home Win Streak
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Joey Dorsey had 12 points and 13 rebounds and top-ranked Memphis remained the nation's only undefeated team with an 85-64 win over Central Florida on Saturday. Derrick Rose led the Tigers (23-0, 9-0 Conference USA) with 15 points, and Antonio Anderson scored 11 as Memphis extended the country's longest active home winning streak to 46 and continued their conference supremacy. Willie Kemp, Robert Dozier and Rose hit consecutive 3-pointers as the Tigers scored 16 straight points over a six-minute run early in the second half, taking a 65-42 lead that was never challenged. Mike O'Donnell led UCF (12-11, 5-4) with 15 points, and Jermaine Taylor added 13 points and five rebounds. The Knights were trying to topple the highest ranked opponent in school history, in just their second crack against the nation's best.
Voldemort's Law: Chevron-Texaco and the Deathly Amazon
In law school they never bother to tell you that the law is about people. As law students, we are trained to ignore the story, to extract from endless cases only the most pertinent facts and, most importantly, the black letter law. Black, without color is what it is, and after awhile all of that blackness can seep into your heart. Inspired, liberal souls quaking in their first torts class can quickly become ?lawyers? in the vile, heartless sense of the profession. While many law students do survive to make the world a better place - or at least vote Democratic - for every hundred good-hearted lawyers there is a Voldemort. A company like Chevron can afford to employ seven or eight Voldemorts when attempting to delay a $6 billion dollar judgment in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Luckily enough, there is a Harry Potter in the jungle and a Dumbledore too.
