Isn't it time to start impeachment of Bush?

The future appears more uncertain than at any time since the rise Hitler before the Second World War.Crisis in Pakistan. We supported Musharraf in spite of his dismal record in fighting terrorists. Our ``great decider'' has an emergency teleconference and hears of the crisis in Pakistan which may threaten Afghanistan. But, let us not return to our nation's capital. The brush must be cleared and a bike ridden. And the nation's defense bill must be vetoed so there will be no lawsuits against the Iraqi government. The reality is the emperor has no clothes but his advisers compliment him on his wardrobe. May we have an impeachment hearing now?Maureen UgoliniBloomington .

McCain's CPAC Suck-up

I don't want my 17-year-old son to have to pick tomatoes or make beds in Las Vegas."

Has Rove accidentally ripped the mask off the vicious social inegalitarianism of Bush's immigration plan, as Mark Krikorian argues, or does a more benign interpretation of his comments save him? It's not like he hasn't said this sort of thing before, apparently. Indeed, his June, 2006 version makes the probable context of last week's remark quite clear--and Rove's not simply "saying that every parent wants their child to have a high-skilled, high-wage job," as the White House's damage control suggests. Here's the 2006 pitch:

"Now frankly," Rove said during a riff on the temporary worker part of President Bush's immigration reform plan, "I don't want my kid digging ditches. I don't want my kid slinging tar.

College Notes: Bryant basketball teams fall tad short at Bentley

What a Saturday for Bryant's basketball teams. The Bulldogs went to Waltham to play archrival Bentley for perhaps the last time and returned to Smithfield with two one-point losses that Bryant die-hards will be talking about for a long time.

In the men's game, the Bulldogs came within a layup of upsetting undefeated and top-ranked Bentley. Cecil Graham's 3-pointer with seconds to play gave Bryant a 68-67 lead, but Bentley's Yusig Abdul-Ali made a driving layup at the buzzer for a 69-68 triumph. It was Bentley's 50th consecutive Northeast-10 victory and its 58th in its last 59 games since a double-overtime loss to Bryant.

Chris Birrell (Scituate) and Jon Ezeokoli each scored 17 points and Graham 14. Graham had scored 36 points, burying eight 3-pointers, earlier last week in a victory over Saint Anselm.

Dances with Wolfe

He has added many insults to that original injury over the years, not least in his invention of 'radical chic' to describe the infatuation of the intelligentsia with the Black Panther movement. Nothing is more likely to raise hackles in New York than a Southern dandy having fun with racial politics, as Wolfe has consistently done since civil rights days. It is, he still argues, the last great taboo and hence a major theme of all of his novels - his next, set in Miami, will look at illegal immigration. Having grown up in segregated Richmond, he knows all about the sensitivities he is addressing. 'It was apartheid [back then],' he says. 'And it was never discussed. I remember visiting New York for a baseball game when I was 17 and going into a drugstore to get a Coca-Cola and there were black people sitting there at other stools.

CSN Chicago makes good use of Presidents Day

CSTV is being renamed the CBS College Sports Network, formally effective next month.

End of the dial: The Cubs' Pat Hughes has been named Illinois Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association for his work on WGN 720-AM. It's the fourth time he's won the award in Illinois and the seventh time overall after taking three in row in Wisconsin in the early '90s.

The weekly baseball program "Hit and Run" has returned on WSCR 670-AM, with George Ofman and Jesse Rogers as hosts, at 9 a.m. Sundays.

Home of a giant: Tour Jon Runyan's house in pictures

In his enormous kitchen with the six-burner Viking stove, the colossal Philadelphia Eagle Jon Runyan points to the kitchen cabinets.

"You pay all that money for that wood and you put a distressed finish on it," says Runyan, chuckling at the irony.

On 23 acres in Mount Laurel -- with 13,000 square feet, 10 bathrooms, five bedrooms and two guest apartments in the making -- Runyan's French chateau-style home is sized for the big man and his family.

On the gridiron, Philadelphia's Iron Man is a fierce presence: 6-foot-7 and 330 pounds. Imagine a good-looking, goateed Shrek with consummate athletic skills. On the Eagles' Web site, coach Andy Reid says this about his veteran offensive tackle: "He is going to maul you and beat you up and feel pretty good about doing it .

Maserati QP Sport GT

Could this possibly be one of the best-looking cars that $146,000 money can currently buy? If just for admiring from 10 paces, the 2007 Sport GT is worth every cent. These cars are still hand-built in Modena, so the niggles that I have about low-rent plastic fixtures and tainted attention to detail should be ignored. Maserati claim that 16 Quattroportes are built per day, so to expect Japanese-level quality control is a waste of your time. Yet the Italian manufacturer has recently invested more than $60m in the plant to address these imperfections. Each car is now meant to receive an extensive visual inspection and a few hours of drive time under their belt before they set sail. Or so they say. There must be a few stragglers that fall to the wayside, avoiding their multimillion-point test check, and an afternoon's jaunt around the Italian countryside.

Parking problems plague downtown

George Liles exit his vehicle after finding an empty parking spot on State Street Wednesday. Downtown residents and businesses have begun complaining about the parking problems but city officials said they plan to halt any remedies until the launch of other city building projects are underway.
