 Lotus Esprit Lotus
James Bond Fantasy Comes True

Designers are bringing back memories of a famous James Bond scene - by producing a car that can travel under water.

In the 007 film The Spy Who Loved Me, Roger Moore is seen driving a Lotus Esprit that doubled as a submarine.

The scene .

BizBits: sQuba

OK, so the Swiss have invented a car that runs on land and underwater. But did they really have to make it a convertible? It’s called the “sQuba,” and conjures up memories of James Bond’s amphibious Lotus Esprit from “The Spy Who Loved Me.” That fictional vehicle traveled on land and, when chased by bad guys in a helicopter, plunged into the water and became an airtight submarine — complete with “torpedoes” and “depth charges.”

But “Q” isn’t responsible for this one.

The concept car — which unlike Bond’s is not armed — was developed by Swiss designer Rinspeed Inc. and is set to make a splash at the Geneva Auto Show next month.

Company CEO Frank Rinderknecht, a self-professed Bond fan, said he has been waiting 30 years to recreate the car he saw Roger Moore use to drive off of a dock.

Jermaine Jenas keeps it simple to make life complicated for Lampard

When you try to do too much, you sometimes do too little. That has been Jermaine Jenas’s problem in the past few years: he has seemed under pressure to be a tough tackler, a visionary passer, a goalscorer, the brains of Tottenham Hotspur’s midfield and also the legs. No wonder he has looked lost.

Now, though, he is in superb form and much of the credit must go to Juande Ramos. It sounds odd, but the new Tottenham head coach has freed Jenas by giving him a more limited role. Less worried about tackling, or crossing, or gluing the team together, he’s driving forward with purpose and using his natural abilities to become a direct attacking midfield player, not the all-rounder he has tried and failed to be.

He has not deserved a place in past England squads, but this time he should be on the pitch.

-I am very sick today, so I don't feel the need to type for very long right now. But, I will make this simple and clear for when I get on later tonight and give my list. Who do you think will get the go-ahead for a top five team to start the 2008 season? Don't be predictable and go with what the media thinks. Go by who you think should be listed up there at the top when the first AP poll comes out in mid-summer. Go ahead, comment and give your thoughts aswell. And I will be on later when I get some of this sickness away and give my reasons. Your Pre-season Top 5? -Kris- .

Formula 1—Webber Tops Test Sheets

Robert Kubica was fourth fastest in a BMW, ahead of former dual world champion Fernando Alonso, in his return to Renault.

Webber's latest test was in contrast to the RB4's previous run last month when his car twice stopped on the track.

The team ran the Red Bull in the latest trial with a different engine cover fin which may have helped the car's pace.

Webber's best lap was four-hundredths of a second faster than Kovalainen.

Less than one second covered the top 10 cars, from Webber to the Torro Rosso of tenth-placed Sebastian Vettel.

Webber's teammate, David Coulthard, was eighth fastest in the test, one spot behind rookie Sebastien Bourdais.

Bourdais, who has moved to Formula One from Champ Cars, put in an impressive performance, beating teammate Vettel.

NFL gets the TMQ seal of approval

So explain to me why people complain about quality of play in the NFL.

This season, it's been a sports talk clich to say the NFL is mediocre, there's too much parity, it's me-too, there's not enough innovation. From where TMQ sits, quality of play has never been higher.

Complaints about supposed runaway parity seem especially weak in a season when one team finished 16-0 and another went 1-15. How much more variation would you like? As reader Matt Miller of Portland, Ore., notes, the best-worst gap in the NFL this season was wider than in any other professional sport. Miller writes, "In baseball, the Red Sox and Indians led the league with winning percentages of .593, and the Devil Rays came in last at .407. Can you imagine the cries of awful parity if there was an NFL season where the best team went 9-7 and the worst team went 7-9? Translated into NFL schedule terms, that's what happened in major league baseball this season.

CARE Leads Response as Thousands in Madagascar Affected Cyclone Ivan

CARE is focusing on shelter and food, while other NGOs are providing health care and water and sanitation relief.

There are more victims to be identified. CARE will respond to these individuals as they become known through a very rapid assessment.

Once emergency needs are met, CARE will expand the scope of relief activities to cover more people and provide agricultural relief, seeds and tools, and assist with rehabilitation activities - focusing on poor and marginalized persons.
