Survivor Cup? Probably Waltrip's
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. Michael Waltrip remembers what happened one year ago Sunday. We had a pretty decent day in Saturdays practice and we were poised to go try to make our first Daytona 500, Waltrip said. I took a shower and I even colored my hair. I shaved. I looked as good as I could. Then, the phone rang. And things started going down the drain. During inspection before Daytona 500 qualifying, NASCAR officials had found a foreign substance in the engine of the No. 55 Toyota. I said, There must be a mistake, there must be a reason, Waltrip said. Waltrips car was impounded. Two key members of his race team were ejected from the Cup garage. NASCAR asked Toyota what it knew about a scandal that overshadowed everything else about the manufacturers first race in NASCARs top series.
FanFest not FanFriendly?
The Atlanta Braves held their team FanFest this past weekend at the Georgia World Congress Center. The event served as an opportunity for fans to interact with players and coaches, and the event proved to be a big success. In the eyes of some fans, a little too successful. Long lines seemed to be the norm at the event and some fans walked away extremely unhappy after not being able to secure an autograph from their favorite player. Did you attend FanFest? How was your experience? Did you or your children get a chance to interact with players? Let us know about your experience. Permalink | Comments (177) | Post your comment | .
Beamer Hits Carriage, Cops Hit Cruise Control
On the evening of Dec. 23, a family piled into one of JoAnne Graf's carriages in downtown Seattle to enjoy a horse-drawn holiday ride. A little before 6:30 p.m., as Graf's horse made a left turn onto Pike from First Avenue, the buggy was severely clipped on the right by a man driving a 1999 BMW 328. According to a police report, the Beamer immediately fled the scene. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and the carriage driver managed to get a license plate number, which led the cops to a name and address in Arlington. This was subsequently added to the police report—which includes a stick-figure drawing of a horse—and that was the end of it from the law enforcement side. Graf says she's repeatedly tried to make contact with the man who hit her carriage, but has received no response.

lawsuit against USADA
The youngster, who hails from Bathurst in New South Wales, said that his lead wasn't the only card the squad had to play as the race nears its conclusion. "With Credit Agricole we have the double spear attack with Simon Gerrans and myself," he said. "We'll be looking to either put Simon in the break or have me defend the jersey." Renshaw says he's excited by the prospect of walking away from the event with the overall orche jersey, but that there's a long way to go before that possibility becomes any more than that. "Every day it becomes a little bit more possible," he said. "If I can get through tomorrow within striking distance there's no reason why I couldn't come back on Sunday and take a few seconds back, but I'm going to need to be within three to five seconds and that's going to come down to tomorrow." The Tour Down Under's penultimate stage is a 147 kilometre test from Willunga to Willunga and will commences at 11am local time.
